If you are considering a loft conversion for the first time, you may be anxious about the paperwork. Perhaps you’re wondering if there will be upheaval, noise, dust or general inconvenience? Luxe Lofts can assure you that nothing could be higher in our priorities than making sure your experience is as comfortable as possibly can be.
Here's a summary of the general steps involved in converting your loft, although sometimes order of completion may differ:
Draft plans are created by our architect for your approval. The plans of our loft conversions are then submitted by us to the local authority, to gain any permissions necessary. Any amendments that may be required are dealt with by us but always with your full approval.
With an agreement from the local authority the general steps are as follows:
- Step 1: The scaffolding is erected on the site.
- Step 2: Structural first fix carpentry will take place above your ceilings within the first 2 weeks, including but not limited to, steel work, floor plan, erection of dormer, and building of internal stud walls.
-Step 3: Known as the ‘knock through’, a new opening is created and stairs are installed. Electricians and Plumbers complete their first fix, along with Roofers who weathertight and tile your new loft conversion.
- Step 4: Once the floors and walls are insulated, Velux’s, windows, and domes can then be installed. Chip board flooring will be laid and internal walls and ceilings are plaster-boarded.
- Step 5: Your new loft space is then plastered, ready for Carpenters, Electricians, and plumbers to second fix.
- Step 6: Snagging is carried out throughout your new loft space to ensure work is completed to the highest level of quality.
